A little ways back I attended a webinar/workshop for “Why Passive Income is Failing.” The key points covered were:
- Why creating products isn’t enough anymore
- Marketing that works
- How to balance passive and active income
First of all, let me describe how I approach my weekly training budget:
Step 1: make sure to build room in a week to have intentional learning opportunities. I dedicate a percentage of my time to improve on a something.
Step 2: pay attention to workshops, webinars, meetings, summits etc which overlap my areas of interest.
Step 3: sign up for what makes sense.
Step 4: forget entirely about it until you see it pop up on your calendar reminder.
Half an hour before the event was scheduled to start I remembered it existed. Thank you Calendar, and I already had my coffee.
Super good start to the day! I had a project up and open that I thought I would work on while listening to why my passive income strategies are not keeping up with the times.
That’s how I thought it would play out. To my surprise, this was not a recorded session. Curious as to how I found out? THEY CALLED ME BY NAME IN THE MEETING! I practically fell out of my chair (I startle easy before coffee #2 in the morning).
This was an absolutely solid workshop btw. My biggest takeaway is my gut on market trends is spot on. It’s always nice to get some reassurance from other like-minded professionals.
To give credit where credit is due, this was offered by Flammable Entrepreneur https://www.flammableentrepreneur.com/
So I’ve got some strategy/businessy things to think through. This might mean a change in product offerings, and more lean into Creative and Professional Services. S4lti Business offers a lot of expertise in a diverse business scape. All that to say we have a lot of practical and applicable skills and experience. For instance, where else can you go to have a piece of furniture repaired and refinished, an art piece or photo professionally framed, a portfolio website built, a logo designed, and custom business forms created in one visit? These are just some of the things we can help with.
This month we celebrated our 3rd year in business. Where has the time gone? Studio hours, learning techniques, helping the North Kitsap Art Community, and growing our business -that’s where the time goes. We started from humble beginnings and parallel career paths. I remember my early days working in a single bedroom apartment and using the kitchen table, floor, deck, really any horizontal surface I could get access to to create my art. I juggled my day-career (it was way too dedicated to call it just a day job) and making art. I couldn’t juggle all that well either, art usually took the back burner.
I decided to take the plunge and invested in equipment to get my own art career kick started. Thankfully, I already had the studio space, the technical know-how to jump in, and business acumen to make informed purchasing decisions. These are luxaires to most artists just starting out. The opportunity and practical costs of “figuring it out” can easily put an aspiring artist into debt and heartache. My dream is to help reduce that burden for other small business owners and creative folk.
Our goal is to be a resource that helps Creatives chase after their own dreams. We want to share our learnings, and our practices, so anyone with a creative spark can build their own book of business without losing their shirt in the process. We don’t offer workshops or classes, we offer tailored consultation experiences so we can help understand where you’re at, where you’ve been, and where you’re heading.
As a birthday present to our friends and fans for the month of May we’re offering a 20% discount on all creative services, and 40% off of art documentation.
We create things, fix things, do things, sell things, KNOW things, and make snarky commentary.
Drop us a line if you're ready to take that next step on your creative journey, we're happy to help you grow!
Thanks for tuning in!
